Allawah Lodge Refurbishment, Coolamon

Adaptive Interiors was engaged through a tender process by Coolamon Shire Council to deliver Allawah Lodge stage 2 and 3 project works. Aboriginal in origin, the name Allawah means ‘place of rest’.

The project involved an upgrade of the lodge to better suit the current needs of the Coolamon Aged Care Community. Transforming buildings into a functional facility that fosters a sense of belonging and safety has been one of our strongest capabilities. The project was handled with critical attention to detail and keeping disruptions to minimal and detailed planning and communication with all the stakeholders. Adhering to the safety standards, the health and wellbeing of the vulnerable residents were prioritised at every stage of the project.

The work was undertaken in sequence to ensure that facility remained operational during the construction period. As part of the upgrade, alterations and extensions were made to the existing building to increase capacity and make the space functionally pleasing for the elderly residents as well as for staff.

Working alongside the council, the project was implemented in two stages: Stage 2 included alterations and upgrading of the existing kitchen and laundry area. Stage 3 included building of a multi-purpose room in the dining room, conversion of the residential lounge to dining room, upgrading of existing courtyard and a provision for new reception area with new entry doors.

Through extensive alterations and additions to the existing facility, we recreated the outdated space into an area that encompassed the elderly residents' requirements.

Amidst the challenges brought on by the pandemic, the team went above and beyond to complete the project. The renewed facility now features a range of amenities including an accessible bathroom, commercial kitchen, multipurpose room, lounge area and a new reception area.
